Botox vs Dysport vs Xeomin vs Jeuveau vs Daxxify in Boca Raton: How the Five Brands Compare
Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau and Daxxify are all FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A products for frown lines, and Sol Luna Aesthetics in Boca Raton offers all five. They differ in approved areas, label dose and formulation, and their units do not convert between brands. The brand is chosen with you at a $125 consultation.
"Is Dysport better than Botox?" and "What is the difference between Xeomin and Botox?" are common questions, and the honest answer is that each brand has its own label, not a ranking. This guide from Sophie Lanter, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, a doctorally prepared, board-certified family nurse practitioner and the founder of Sol Luna Aesthetics, compares the five brands using each product's FDA prescribing information. A DNP is a doctoral degree in nursing, not a medical (MD or DO) degree. For prices by area, read Botox Cost in Boca Raton.
What do all five wrinkle relaxer brands have in common?
Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau and Daxxify are prescription medicines that temporarily relax the muscles they are injected into, which softens expression lines on the skin above. According to their FDA labels, they share several things:
The same core approval. All five are approved for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar lines, the vertical frown lines between the eyebrows often called "11s."
The same boxed warning. Every label warns that the effect of botulinum toxin products may spread from the injection area and cause symptoms hours to weeks later.
Units that do not convert. Each label states that its units cannot be compared to or converted into units of other botulinum toxin products.
A minimum interval. Each label advises against repeat cosmetic treatment more often than every three months (for Botox Cosmetic, the label says it is not known whether use more than once every 3 months is safe and effective).
Sol Luna's wrinkle relaxer page calls the whole category wrinkle relaxers or neurotoxin, and lists treatments by area rather than by brand.
How do Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau and Daxxify compare side by side?
The facts below come from each product's FDA prescribing information: Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau and Daxxify.
Brand | Generic name | FDA-approved cosmetic uses | Label dose for frown lines | Formulation notes from the label |
Botox Cosmetic | onabotulinumtoxinA | Frown lines, crow's feet, forehead lines and platysma (neck) bands | 20 Units | Toxin complex with accessory proteins; contains human albumin |
Dysport | abobotulinumtoxinA | Frown lines in adults under 65 | 50 Units | Toxin complex; contains human albumin and lactose; may contain trace cow's milk protein |
Xeomin | incobotulinumtoxinA | Frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet | 20 Units | Toxin without accessory proteins; contains human albumin and sucrose |
Jeuveau | prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs | Frown lines only | 20 Units | Contains human albumin |
Daxxify | daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm | Frown lines (also approved for cervical dystonia, a medical neck condition) | 40 Units | Toxin without accessory proteins; made with a peptide excipient (RTP004) and no human albumin listed |
A higher number of units on one label does not mean a stronger treatment. Dysport's 50 Units and Daxxify's 40 Units for frown lines are simply measured on different scales from the 20 Units used for Botox Cosmetic, Xeomin and Jeuveau.
Which wrinkle relaxer lasts the longest?
Duration depends on the person, the area, the dose and the product, so no brand can promise a set number of months. What the sources say:
The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) says results for lines and wrinkles last about 3 to 4 months, and sometimes longer.
The Dysport label states its clinical effect for frown lines may last up to four months.
Sol Luna's wrinkle relaxer page notes that Daxxify's results can last up to 6 months or more for some patients. In the FDA trials for frown lines, people treated with Daxxify were followed for at least 24 weeks.
Our Daxxify vs Botox longevity guide and How Long Does Botox Last? cover timing in more detail. Results vary from person to person.
Which brands are FDA-approved for forehead lines and crow's feet?
Only Botox Cosmetic and Xeomin are FDA-approved for forehead lines and crow's feet in addition to frown lines. Botox Cosmetic is also the only one of the five approved for platysma (vertical neck) bands. Dysport, Jeuveau and Daxxify are approved for frown lines; using them in other areas is an off-label use, which is a clinical decision your provider will explain at your visit.
Sol Luna's Triple Threat treats the forehead, frown lines and crow's feet in one appointment. Read Botox for Forehead Lines, Frown Lines and Crow's Feet for how those three areas are planned.
Do the side effects differ between brands?
The most common side effects reported in each label's frown line trials:
Botox Cosmetic: eyelid drooping (3%).
Dysport: nasopharyngitis, headache, injection site pain or reaction, upper respiratory infection, eyelid swelling, eyelid drooping, sinusitis and nausea (each in at least 2% of people).
Xeomin: in its repeated upper facial line trials, injection site hematoma, a small collection of blood under the skin, was most common (8%), followed by headache (3%), injection site bruising (3%) and brow drooping (1%).
Jeuveau: headache (12%), eyelid drooping (2%) and upper respiratory infection (3%).
Daxxify: headache (6%), eyelid drooping (2%) and facial weakness (1%).
These numbers come from separate studies with different designs, so they cannot be compared directly to rank one brand as safer. The AAD notes that most side effects from wrinkle relaxers are mild and temporary and are caused by the injections themselves. How does Sophie choose a brand for you?
Every new patient at Sol Luna starts with a $125 consultation, and Sophie performs all injectable procedures. The product is matched to you, not the other way around. Factors that can shape the choice include:
The area treated, and whether a brand is FDA-approved for it.
Your history, including any brand you have had before, how long it lasted and how you responded.
Allergies and health history. The Dysport label lists an allergy to cow's milk protein as a reason not to use it, and every label asks about neuromuscular conditions, pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Your goals and schedule, such as how often you want to come back.
If you choose to treat the same day, the $125 goes toward your treatment. New to wrinkle relaxers? Read First-Time Botox in Boca Raton: What to Expect.
Is Dysport or Daxxify priced differently from Botox at Sol Luna?
Sol Luna does not publish separate prices for each brand. Wrinkle relaxers are listed by area, such as $200 for a Lip Flip or Brow Lift and $600 for Masseter Tox, and a $150 surcharge applies to all men's wrinkle relaxer treatments. For Full Face Neurotoxin, the website lists the price as "Varies" and the online booking menu shows a Dysport option at $1,500. Your quote for the product chosen is confirmed at your consultation.
Frequently asked questions
Is Dysport the same as Botox?
No. Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA) and Botox Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) are different botulinum toxin type A products with separate FDA labels. Both are approved for frown lines, but their doses are measured differently and their units cannot be converted from one brand to the other.
Which wrinkle relaxer brands does Sol Luna Aesthetics offer?
Sol Luna Aesthetics in Boca Raton offers five brands: Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau and Daxxify. Sophie Lanter, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC chooses the product and dose with you at your consultation, based on the area, your history and your goals.
Does Daxxify last longer than Botox?
Sol Luna's wrinkle relaxer page notes Daxxify's results can last up to 6 months or more for some patients, while the AAD says wrinkle relaxer results typically last about 3 to 4 months. Duration varies by person, area and dose, and no set length can be promised.
Can I switch from Botox to Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau or Daxxify?
Switching brands is possible and is a clinical decision made at your appointment. Each FDA label states its units cannot be converted to another brand's units, so your provider sets a new dose for the new product rather than swapping one number for another.
Which brands are approved for crow's feet and forehead lines?
Botox Cosmetic and Xeomin are FDA-approved for crow's feet and forehead lines as well as frown lines. Dysport, Jeuveau and Daxxify are approved for frown lines, so using them in other areas is off-label and is discussed at your consultation.
